LINCOLN UNIVERSITY BLUE TIGER FOOTBALL IS PROUD TO INVITE EVERYONE TO THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR KICK-OFF SCRIMMAGE AT 7:30 P.M. AUGUST 24TH, 2008 AT DWIGHT T. REED STADIUM. WE ARE CALLING OUT ALL GREEKS, STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF AND THE COMMUNITY TO SHARE IN THIS UNIQUE EXPERIENCE. OLYMPIC HOPEFUL!

Keep your eyes on Beijing, China for incoming Lincoln Blue Tiger Freshman Semoy Hacket.  Semoy will be running the 100 meter dash and the 4 x 100 meter relay for her home country of Trinidad and Tobago.

UPDATE!
This weekend, Semoy Hackett ran in the first of her two Olympic events, the 100 meter.  By the end of the 2nd round, Semoy had missed out on qualifying for the finals, and has dropped out of medal contention.  She was ranked 25th by the end of the 2nd round of heats.  Her best time was 11.53.  
She is still on contention for a medal in the 4 X 100 relay.

 

 

DIVISION II TRACK SCHOLAR NAMED

Lincoln University Blue Tiger sprinter Nandelle Cameron is one of 5 athletes named NCAA Division II Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athletes of the Year.  The honor was given to the athletes by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.  Cameron is a Co- Outdoor Track Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  She shares the honor with Emma Erickson of the University of South Dakota.  Cameron won the 200 meter dash at the Outdoor Championship in May. 

 

Newest Blue Tiger!

Paula Jackson has been named Athletic Director for Lincoln University.  She comes to us from Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia.   Ms. Jackson served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance and the Senior Women’s Administrator, as well as serving as the Interim Athletic Director.

Before Savannah State, Jackson served as an Assistant Athletic Director as well as the Senior Women’s Administrator at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. She held the same positions at Clark Atlanta University.

A native of Baton Rouge, La., Jackson received her bachelor’s degree from Southern (La.) University in broadcast and print journalism with a minor in public relations in 1986. While there, she was a member of the cheerleading squad. She earned her Master of Business Administration from Clark Atlanta in 1991.

She is active in many organizations, including the Georgia Women’s Intersport Network, Women in Sports and Events, Black Women’s Sports Foundation, the Women’s Sport Foundation, Sports Divas and she served as the chair of the Marketing committee for the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators. Recently, Jackson became one of twenty women to graduate from Leadership Institute of Ethnic Minority Females.

We welcome Ms. Jackson and her son, Blake to Jefferson City.

 

 

Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars Announced

Norman, Oklahoma-  Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for Divisions II have been announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.  A total of 26 players earned the honor.   To be eligible for Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 78.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2.  A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university. 

Lincoln University is proud to announce that recently graduated Blue Tiger golfer Rudolfo Gamiño has been named as one of the All-America Scholars.  Rudolfo had a stroke average of 75.5, leading the Blue Tigers in birdies per 18 holes.  He had a GPA of 3.6.  His best finish this year was  3rd place at the University of North Alabama Spring Classic, as well as helping the Blue Tigers to a 2nd place finish at the PGA National Minority Collegiate Golf Championship.  This is Rudolfo’s second time being selected to the All America Scholar list.  He was also named the 2006-2007 Heartland Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the year.  Since his graduation, Rudolfo has returned to his home in Guadalajara, Mexico but keeps in close contact with Lincoln University Golf Coach Jerry Coffman.

 

 


NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Walnut, CA  - 5/22/2008 to 5/24/2008. 

Sixteen Lincoln Blue Tigers qualified to take their shot at the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women's outdoor Track & Field titles this week in Walnut, California. The Blue Tiger women attempted to make this year their 6th championship in a row. Unfortunately, Abilene Christian University stormed both men’s and women’s events this year with a total of 76.50 points for the women and 108.50 points for the men. The Blue Tiger Women took 3rd place with 54 points, missing 2nd place by only one point which went to Adams State with 55 points. The Blue Tiger Men’s team finished in 5th place with a total of 46 points. Davita Prendergast still holds the record for the Women’s 400 Meter Dash, which she set in 2006 with a time of 51.29.    
 
The LU Tigers took first place in the following events:
 
LU junior, Nandelle Cameron came in first in the Women’s 200 Meter Dash with a time of 23.60, with Monique Robinson (Jr) following in 6th place, with a time of 23.97.
 
Natoya Thompson (Jr) finished in first place in the Women’s High Jump, with a height of 1.76m.
 
In 2007 the LU women (Monique Robinson, Davita Prendergast, Meleshia Spencer, Carla Thomas) set the record for the meet in the Women 4x400 Meter Relay, with a time of 3:32.31, the Blue Tiger Women: Monique Robinson (Jr), Patricia Tinglin, (Jr), Meisha Thompson (Sr) and  Carla Thomas (Sr) didn’t break that record this year, but did hold onto the first place title in the Women’s 4x400 Meter Relay, with a time of 3:39.70.
 
LU Senior Wilbert Walker, finished in first place in the Men’s Triple Jump with a distance of 16.30m.
 
Finishing in first place in the Men’s 4x100 Meter Relay with a time of 39.65 was Franklyn Mitchell (Sr), Kawayne Fisher (So), Dwayne Bryden (Fr) and Kimour Bruce (Fr).
 
Second Place events:
 
Carla Thomas a senior at Lincoln, finished 2nd in the Women’s 400 meter hurdles with a time of 59.42.
 
Okine Codlyn (Jr) finished in second place in the Women’s 200 Meter Dash Heptathlon with a time of 25.36.
 

In the Men’s 100 Meter Dash, Kawayne Fisher (So) finished in second place with a time of 10.26 followed by Kimour Bruce (Fr), in fifth place with a time of 10.36.
