Student Outcomes Assessment Program (SOAP)

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO LINCOLN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS:

PARTICIPATION IN THE STUDENT OUTCOMES ASSESSMENT PROGRAM IS MANDATORY.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION.

The Student Outcomes Assessment Program (SOAP) helps Lincoln University evaluate the effectiveness of its curriculum, improve the quality of programs and assess student-learning outcomes.

Lincoln University students participate in the Student Outcomes Assessment Program to help the University evaluate its programs and services and to satisfy departmental and university requirements for graduation.

The Center for Assessment, Institutional Research and Planning maintains the responsibility for monitoring student participation in assessment activities.

Two major components of the SOAP program are the General Education Test and the Major Field Exit Examination.

  • Each student pursuing their first Bachelor's degree is required to take the General Education Test, an assessment of general education skills, after the successful completion of 75 or more credit hours (including transfer credits):

A student who fails to take the General Education Test will be denied permission to register for the succeeding semester or, if in the final semester, will be restricted from graduating.

  • Each graduating senior is required to take the Major Field Exit Examination in his/her major area.

A student who fails to take the Major Field Exit Examination will be denied permission to register for the succeeding semester or, if in the final semester, will be restricted from graduating.

The Student Outcomes Assessment Program is continually evolving as Lincoln University strives to improve student learning and enhance the quality of our educational programs.
