Counseling Services Information

Counseling Services Provided

  • Personal – Attending college can be exciting, but it can also add a stress factor to your life.  Personal counseling is available to help you address concerns such as: anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and academic stress.

  • Academic – Most students have developed the skills in secondary school to be successful in college, but the academic demands of the University may present a challenge that requires a modification and/or development of new skills.  We will work with the student and their advisor to access the student in developing skill sets to be successful.

  • Career – During individual consultation, students explore with a counselor possible career paths.  Career assessment instruments such as the Self-Directed Search and the Strong Assessment are used to assist in the career exploration process.  Additionally the usage of the Occupational Dictionary provides information for: specific jobs, educational requirements, work environment, salary, and the number of job positions needed in the future.

Referral/Confidentiality

Outside referrals are made through the Director. It is preferred that a relationship is established with the student, prior to the outside referral, if this is possible. All counseling information will be held in the strictest confidence. Confidential information regarding the student will not be released without the student's permission.
