Mission

The Department of Education prepares educators to make a difference in the lives of learners. Education programs offer students opportunities to learn in technology-rich classrooms and to apply that learning in a variety of clinical settings in rural, urban, and suburban schools. Candidates learn from experienced university professors, respected researchers, and master teachers. Learners encounter and develop greater appreciation for diversity among individuals, ideas, perspectives and communities.

Department of Education programs offer excellence through small classes, collaborative learning, innovative teaching, and active experiences in schools and other educational settings. Quality programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and are approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (MO-DESE). The Department of Education honors Lincoln University's historic mission which began with education.
